How To Use Yoghurt In Dressings

There are many ways to incorporate yoghurt in your salad dressings.

It is a healthy substitute for sour cream or mayonnaise in creamy salad dressings. I love that yoghurt dressings give that extra tang in a salads.

For example, start with the classic potato salad. Ditch the mayonnaise and switch to greek yoghurt, add chopped chives, seeded mustard, a squeeze of honey and season with salt and pepper.

I’ll guarantee this yoghurt potato salad dressing will be less gluggy but deliciously creamy and velvety.

You can also use yoghurt as a substitute when tossing together a creamy coleslaw, replace the mayo in a caesar salad dressing or give the traditional ranch dressing a twist by using Greek yoghurt versus buttermilk and mayo.

Which Yoghurt to Use in Salad Dressings

Greek-style yoghurt is commonly used as a base as it has slightly higher fat content than natural plain yoghurt. The thicker consistency works well to create a creamier texture.

However, you can use natural plain yoghurt as well.

You can also try sheep milk yoghurt rather than cow milk yoghurt. There is a difference in taste as we find sheep milk yoghurt to be more tangy and fresh.

Sheep milk also has smaller fat globules than cow milk, so it is more homogenous and easier to digest. Those who cannot digest cow milk will find they can consume sheep milk products.

Plus sheep milk has higher A2 protein, vitamin B12, folate and calcium and zinc levels.

What Goes Well with Honey Garlic Yoghurt Dressing

This refreshing yoghurt dressing mixes sheep milk yoghurt with pungent crushed garlic for oomph and a squeeze of honey to balance the tang.

We recommend pairing it with a fresh raw salad or try roasted vegetables like carrot, beets and sweet potato.

Spread the yoghurt dressing as a base on the plate and topple your favourite vegetables on top.

Add your twist and toss in your favourite herbs, seeds or spices. Our tangy honey garlic yoghurt dressing will revitalise the taste buds for sure.

Sheep milk yoghurt: Beautiful, creamy yoghurt that is perfect for any yoghurt based salad dressing.

Garlic: Adding some pungent garlic just makes everything taste better. Love that it can work with dairy, citrus and sweetness!

Honey: A good dollop of your favourite honey. I do recommend you get some really good honey so you can taste it’s authentic flavours.

Lemon: This salad needs some acidity to balance out the creaminess and the sweetness. A good squeeze of lemon will do the trick.
